Things to Do New Year's Day around Wheaton, IL
Even if your kids were up til the wee hours of the night to ring in the new year, we all know that doesn't necessarily mean they'll sleep in... so if you're finding yourself needing to get out of the house to keep them entertained on New Year's Day, here's some great local options for you:
Going to see lights *after* the holidays is one of my family's traditions - it helps extend the magic of the season, and it is often less crowded and easier to find an available time for ticketed ones. Many of them are open into the first week of January!
Timed entry tickets are required, but the Morton Arboretum is open normal hours on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, and both the buildings and Children’s Garden are open.
Brookfield Zoo
Open 363 days a year, Brookfield Zoo is a great place to visit on New Year's Day when it will be quiet and easier for your little ones to run around to get their energy out, or stop into the animal buildings to escape the cold. Open 10:00 am - 5:00 PM.
Ice Skating at Parkway Bank Park
Admission to the Chicago Wolves Ice Rink is free at the Rosemont Entertainment District. Guests are invited to bring their own skates or rent skates on-site for $8.
