Purging Your Kids' Items? Children's Community Closet Can Help!

Give back to the community in more ways than one at Children's Community Closet of LaGrange Park

By Erica Alhorn, Macaroni KID Downers Grove-Elmhurst-La Grange May 9, 2025

Looking for a place where your items can be passed along directly to neighbors (that's not Goodwill)? Did you know there's a fully free community closet in La Grange Park that is open to all?

Children's Community Closet of LaGrange Park operates with monthly open hours where anyone can come "shop" for free -- no proof of need or vouchers necessary. This insures that clothing and accessories can stay within our community, keeping items out of landfills and into the hands of those who can really use them! It's great for the environment and local families!

Looking for volunteer opportunities to do *with* your kids?

Children's Community Closet of LaGrange Park welcomes all ages to help sort and organize all the donations they receive to prepare for their monthly open hours. They have an easy volunteer sign-up form to find times that work for you and your family. The only restriction on volunteers is that anyone under the age of 14 needs an adult with them. This is a perfect way to get your children involved with giving back in an easy way that has direct impact on their immediate community.

The open hours each month are not possible without the help of generous volunteers who sort and organize the items that come in from community donations.

Here are the upcoming Open Hours & Volunteer Opportunities for May 2025:

Children's Community Closet of LaGrange Park is located inside:
