June 14: Wonka (2023) at Ty Warner Park
This fantasy musical film follows the story of Willy Wonka, the famous but eccentric chocolatier based on the character from Roald Dahl’s novel. In particular, it emphasizes his rise to the top. The narrative traces his beginnings as a young adult who started as an employee selling chocolate in a store until he became driven to enter the chocolate industry eventually. This film acts as a prequel to the 1971 film adaptation of Dahl’s novel.
July 12: Kung Fu Panda 4 (2024) at Diane Main Park
Follow Po on his wide-eyed adventures in ancient China, whose love of Kung Fu is matched only by an insatiable appetite.
August 2: A League of their Own (1992) at Veterans Memorial Park
A look at the first women’s professional baseball league is set during World War II and focuses on the rivalry between sisters, one a sweet-swinging catcher and the other a pouty, impulsive pitcher, who play on the same team, which is managed by a washed-up, hard-drinking ex-Major Leaguer.
